Kente was founded by Larry G. Tucker, LMFT, and J. Phillip Rosier, LMFT in 2004. Kente is currently led by Larry G. Tucker and a clinically diverse staff with professional training in marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work. We are proud of our staff’s cultural and ethnic diversity. Our staff has over 80 years of combined experience in the social service field.
As a group of prominent relationship professionals, Kente has several therapists who have presented at local and national conferences and to general audiences on a variety of topics including working with individuals, couples, families, African American boys, GLBTQ, cultural competence, spirituality, and parenting issues.
Our staff work from a systemic and relational perspective with a strength-based focus, which utilizes many schools of therapy including experiential, narrative, emotionally focused, interactive, solution-focused, and cognitive/behavioral therapy.
Our therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. We integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each individual, couple, or family.
The meaning of Kente Circle
The name Kente Circle evolved from a process that was facilitated by people in the community with a goal and desire to examine and illuminate the connectedness between individuals, families and communities.
All of our therapists are Masters- or PhD-level therapists. They are licensed as Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC).
The “Family Friendly” award was presented to Kente Circle in 2010 by the Minnesota Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT).
Some of our therapists are Minnesota State Approved LMFT Supervisors, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisors, MN Board of Social Work Approved, and Minnesota State Approved LPCC Supervisors.
A number of our therapists are or have been professors and adjunct professors at the University of Minnesota, St. Mary's University and at Argosy University.
