Systemic Family Therapy:
Intensive In-Home Family therapy with the goals of avoiding out-of-home placements, reducing length of stay in out-of-home placements, provide transition support for youth coming out of placement, addressing risk factors, and engaging clients in a culturally competent way and helping them connect with informal supports in their community.
Community Reintegration Services:
In-Home Family therapy with the goals of avoiding out-of-home placements, reducing length of stay in out-of-home placements, provide transition support for youth coming out of placement, addressing risk factors, and engaging clients in a culturally competent way and helping them connect with informal supports in their community.
Brief Counseling Services:
In-Home Family therapy with the goals providing immediate response to current crises, creating safety plans to reduce significant risks of harm or out-of-home placement, eliminating barriers to reunification, and engaging clients in a culturally competent way and helping them connect with informal supports in their community.
Family Decision Making Meetings:
A meeting that includes family, service providers, community members, and County staff aimed at empowering families to engage their own support network and develop a plan to address current needs.
A variety of culturally-specific groups offered to youth throughout Dakota County, including middle schools, high schools, and juvenile service center.
Family Based Services:
In-Home Family therapy with goals of providing parent and child with therapeutic interventions, working collaboratively with County Case Managers to keep families intact, eliminating barriers to reunification, eliminating or greatly reducing safety risks that are the basis for consideration of out-of-home placement, supporting concurrent permanency planning, and engaging clients in a culturally competent way.
Functional Family Therapy:
Evidenced-based model of family therapy for families with 10- to 18-year-old youth who have been referred for behavioral or emotional problems by juvenile probation or social services. FFT is a short-term, high quality intervention program with a core focus on assessment and intervention to address risk and protective factors within and outside of the family that impact the adolescent and his or her adaptive development.
Referral process: Please contact your County Case Manager, Social Worker, and/or Probation Officer to request a referral for services.
Sojourner Truth Academy
Sojourner Truth Academy (STA) is a PreK-8 public charter school in North Minneapolis. Kente Circle has offered school-based therapy for scholars at STA since 2014. Kente clinicians and interns collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school staff to support the mental health needs of the diverse student body. Kente has a fulltime presence at STA, meeting with students during the school day, providing accessibility to therapy, and offering ongoing, consistent mental health support for students and their families. http://www.sojournertruthacademy.org/
