Functional Family Therapist (FFT) – Full-Time- 1 position available.
Located in South Minneapolis, Kente Circle provides professional therapy services for individuals, couples and families that embrace community and diversity. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is an empirically grounded, documented, and highly successful family intervention program for youth experiencing behavioral challenges. Training will be provided if applicants are not currently certified.
FFT has been applied to a wide range of youth and their families in various multiethnic, multicultural contexts. Target populations range from at-risk pre-adolescents, to youth and families with serious problems such as mental health issues, violent acting-out, and substance abuse behaviors throughout Hennepin County.
To provide Functional Family Therapy, an intensive family and community based therapeutic treatment, to youth and their families in Hennepin County.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the vision and mission of Kente Circle in providing ethical and effective programming to youth and families.
- Perform FFT interventions with Hennepin County youth and their families as referred by Juvenile Probation and Social Service.
- Manage a caseload size ranging between 10-12 cases.
- Meet all training and knowledge requirements of FFT in an effort to maintain fidelity to the model.
- Attend regularly scheduled/mandated weekly team meetings involving all FFT staff, including the FFT supervisor, for the purpose of reviewing individual case progress, and consulting with caseworkers and probation officers.
- Maintain client records according to FFT and Kente Circle professional standards.
- Follow all Policies and Procedures set forth by Kente Circle.
Master’s Degree required, licensure track in MFT, Social Work or a related counseling field is preferred. Requires 2 years experience in working with diverse populations, family therapy, and/or youth involved in the juvenile court system. Must be able to pass a background study. Candidate must also be a self-starter, with the ability to work in both independently and in team settings. Candidates must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

ASSOCIATE THERAPIST- part-time (with optional goal for full time)
To provide professional therapeutic services to individuals, couples and families. These services include assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, advocacy, team meetings, court reports, groups and referral services. Kente’s Associate Therapists are contracted positions.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides family therapy, individual therapy, and couple therapy to clients in an In- office setting. The therapist will also be responsible for developing Diagnostic Assessments and treatment plans, and on going clinical documentation for each assigned case, conduct therapy according to Kente Circle’s co-therapy model (i.e., co-leading sessions, allowing others to observe your sessions, breaks to consult, etc.) and Manage all aspects of your own caseload.
Masters Degree in the mental health professional and Licensed or close to the end of their licensing process. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years experience in social service or related field. Good computer skills with some knowledge of MAC computers. The position will also require satisfactory documentation skills, time management, training and administrative skills. Candidate must be a self-starter/self-motivated, organized with the ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently. Candidate must have reliable transportation. Ideal candidates will also have experience working with diverse populations. Eligible candidates will need to be available for a minimum of 15 hours per week for client availability.
